At Belle Vue Dental Practice, we understand that dental problems don’t always occur during normal opening hours.
We provide advice and support for urgent dental problems when the practice is closed.

 

How to contact us out of hours

If you need urgent dental advice outside our normal opening hours:

Please call the practice telephone number as usual:
01268 759684

Your call will be automatically diverted to our out-of-hours service.

If we are unable to answer immediately, please leave a voicemail with your name, contact number, and a brief description of the problem. We will review your message and respond as soon as possible.

 

Problems we can help with out of hours

Out-of-hours support is intended for urgent dental problems, such as:

• Severe toothache not relieved by painkillers

• Facial swelling

• Dental trauma (for example, a knocked-out or broken tooth)

• Uncontrolled bleeding

• Problems following recent dental treatment

Where clinically necessary, arrangements may be made for emergency treatment at the practice.

 

Problems that can usually wait until we reopen

Some dental issues are not considered emergencies and can safely wait until normal opening hours, including:

• Lost fillings, crowns, or bridges

• Broken teeth without pain

• Mild discomfort

• Denture breakages

• Routine enquiries or appointment changes

If you contact us about these issues out of hours, we will still acknowledge your message and advise you on the next steps.

 

What to expect

When you contact us out of hours:

1. Your message will be reviewed and the urgency assessed

2. You will be contacted to discuss your symptoms and receive advice

3. If necessary, emergency treatment may be arranged

4. All advice and treatment are recorded in your dental records

 

When to seek urgent medical help

Please seek immediate medical attention (A&E) if you experience:

• Difficulty breathing or swallowing

• Rapidly increasing facial swelling

• Trauma involving facial bones

• Heavy bleeding that does not stop

These symptoms may require urgent medical care rather than dental treatment.

 

Pain relief advice

While waiting for a call back, you may find temporary relief by using:

• Paracetamol

• Ibuprofen (if suitable for you)

• A cold compress for swelling

Always follow the instructions on the packaging and ensure the medication is suitable for you.
