ACCESSIBILITY & EQUALITY

Accessibility & Equality

At Belle Vue Dental Practice, we are committed to providing dental care and services that are inclusive, respectful and as accessible as reasonably possible for all patients.

We aim to ensure that everyone who visits our practice or uses our website is treated fairly, with dignity and respect.

Accessibility

We recognise that patients may have different accessibility, mobility, sensory, communication or other support needs.

We will consider reasonable adjustments to help disabled patients access our services and will work with patients to understand their individual requirements wherever possible.

This may include:

  • Supporting patients with mobility, sensory, learning or communication needs

  • Making reasonable adjustments according to individual circumstances

  • Welcoming assistance dogs where appropriate

  • Providing additional support for patients who may feel anxious or vulnerable

  • Taking individual communication needs and preferences into account wherever reasonably possible

If you have any accessibility or additional support requirements, please contact us. Where possible, letting us know before your appointment can help us understand your needs and discuss appropriate arrangements with you.

Physical access to the practice

We want patients to have clear information about the physical accessibility of our premises before visiting.

There are steps leading to the main entrance of the practice and there is no permanent step-free access at this entrance.

An alternative access route may be available for wheelchair users and patients with limited mobility. This involves access to the rear of the practice, where a portable ramp can be used to provide access directly into our ground-floor treatment room.

As this arrangement needs to be prepared in advance and may not be suitable for everyone's individual circumstances, please contact us before your appointment to discuss your access requirements. We will do our best to identify a suitable reasonable adjustment wherever possible.

Please note that our toilet facilities are not currently suitable for wheelchair access.

Website accessibility

We aim to make our website clear and easy to use for all visitors.

We strive to:

  • Use clear language and straightforward navigation

  • Make content readable and accessible across different devices

  • Consider accessibility when maintaining and developing our website

  • Improve accessibility where reasonably practicable

If you experience difficulty accessing information on our website, please contact us. We will do our best to provide the information you need in an appropriate way.

Equality, diversity and inclusion

We are committed to treating people fairly and providing care without unlawful discrimination.

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, we do not unlawfully discriminate because of:

  • Age

  • Disability

  • Gender reassignment

  • Marriage or civil partnership

  • Pregnancy or maternity

  • Race

  • Religion or belief

  • Sex

  • Sexual orientation

We are committed to treating all patients with courtesy, dignity and respect.

Respectful care and communication

We aim to:

  • Listen carefully to patients' concerns, needs and preferences

  • Communicate information in a clear and supportive way

  • Take individual communication needs into account wherever reasonably possible

  • Respect patient confidentiality, privacy and personal dignity

  • Create a welcoming and respectful environment for everyone

If you have particular communication needs or require support to understand information about your care, please let us know so that we can consider how best to assist you.

Raising concerns

If you feel that your accessibility needs have not been appropriately considered or that you have experienced unfair treatment or discrimination, please let us know.

Concerns can be raised through our Complaints Procedure. We will take concerns seriously and handle them fairly, sensitively and in accordance with our complaints process.
